Our dynos are key to product development and properly testing our performance engine assemblies.

We have two engine dyno test cells for Lycoming 4, 6, and 8 cylinder engines.

Engine dyno testing allows us to record a significant amount of information on a particular engine assembly in a safe, controlled environment.  Development and longevity testing is performed on the dyno much more efficiently than flight testing, offering a significant time and cost savings.  And possibly most important, our customers benefit from our experience with other engine combinations to maximize their configuration.

Our data acquisition system is the key to extracting and utilizing information from our dynos.  We have the capability of recording more than 40 channels of data, at sample rates up to 48kHz (48,000 samples per second).  From these large data files, the system can quickly produce data sheets showing HP and Torque vs. RPM, with overlays of individual cylinder EGT's, AFR, crankcase pressure, fuel flow, detonation, or any other combination.  We utilize the SAE J607 testing standards including atmospheric correction so that we can accurately compare engine output readings from different days.

Our test cells can support standard O-320's up to TIO-720 Lycoming engines.  We have specialized procedures for breaking-in new engines in the safest and most effective ways.  This is especially helpful in new builds because we eliminate uncertainty from the engine operation during the sometimes stressful first flight.

Our engine dynos offer us the opportunity to extract the maximum amount of safe power from your engine.  We fully calibrate each new engine that we assemble and can also do the same for engines that are shipped to us.  We can simulate flight conditions to fully map the fuel system and ignition (when available).  This removes the lengthy process of flight testing and lets the pilot concentrate on other areas.  Optionally, we also have the ability to record in-cylinder pressure readings vs. crankshaft position.  This is especially helpful in fine-tuning new combinations of engine components and is vitally important in testing various fuel types.
